Cellcycle is seeking to appoint an experienced High Voltage Battery Engineer to support the continued growth of our EV and Battery Energy Storage System operations.
As a specialist lithium-ion battery recycler, we manage high-voltage battery systems across Electric Vehicles and BESS infrastructure, delivering safe handling, diagnostics, repair, decommissioning and end-of-life processing in live operational environments.
Key Responsibilities
HighVoltageEV&BESSBatterySystems
- Diagnose, repair, dismantle, and rework lithium-ion battery packs used in EVs and BESS units
- Carry out safe isolation, discharge on EV and BESS HV systems (typically 400V– 1000V+ DC)
- Identify faults at cell, module, pack, and BMS level within containerised and cabinet-based BESS systems
On-Site & Field Engineering
- Attend customer, partner, and operational sites to support EV and BESS unit assessment, remediation, and decommissioning
- Act as the HV technical authority on site, ensuring correct procedures and RAMS are followed
- Support commissioning, controlled shutdown, and dismantling of containerised and modular BESS systems
RAMS, Safety & Compliance
- Write, review, and implement RAMS for all HV EV and BESS activities
- Ensure compliance with HV legislation, IEC / BS EN standards, and ISO 45001
- Lead toolbox talks and enforce safe systems of work around high-energy DC systems
Technical Documentation & Reporting
- Produce detailed technical reports, repair records, and battery condition assessments
- Maintain accurate documentation for EV and BESS HV assets
Continuous Improvement
- Support improvements to safe handling, repair, and dismantling procedures for EV and BESS batteries
- Provide technical input to enhance tooling, processes, and training related to HV battery systems
Essential Requirements
High Voltage Battery Experience
- Minimum 3 years’ hands-on experience working with high-voltage lithium-ion battery systems
- Direct experience with EV battery packs and/or Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
- Proven ability to repair, diagnose, or dismantle HV battery systems
- Experience working under formal HV safety rules and permit-to-work systems
RAMS & Safety
- Demonstrable experience writing and implementing RAMS for HV electrical or battery work
- Strong understanding of risk management for high-energy DC systems
On-Site / Field Experience
- Previous site-based or field engineering experience in EV, BESS, ESS.
- Confident working in operational, safety-critical environments
Technical Knowledge
- Strong understanding of:
- Lithium-ion battery architecture (cell / module / pack)
- Battery Management Systems (BMS)
- HV isolation, testing, and fault-finding
- Containerised and cabinet-based BESS architectures
- Familiarity with IEC, BS EN, and ISO 45001
Desirable
- Experience with BESS units
- HV Authorised Person (AP) or equivalent
- Experience in recycling, or end-of-life processing of EV or BESS batteries
